JessicaJessica is the founder of Ocean Tree Yoga Studio and a Certified Yoga Chi Gung Teacher, Level 2 Hatha Yoga Teacher. Jess is also a graduate of Yoga Therapy and Certified Ayurveda consultant with Australia's leading Yoga Therapy Institute
Jess is a passionate yoga teacher with thousands of hours of teaching experience. She was first introduced to Yoga Chi Gung and began practicing in 2007. Receiving the many benefits that yoga offered her while working long hours as a hairstylist, she became inspired to share yoga with others. Jess then went on to completing her Yoga Chi Gung teacher training in 2011. Exploring deeper, this led to further training and study of Hatha Yoga and Buddhist meditation. While having initially taught Yoga throughout the Fraser Coast at various locations, Jess dreamt of having her own studio to fully complement the yoga sessions she offered and create the space it is today. Ocean Tree Yoga Studio was established in 2014. Jessica has successfully mentored students of yoga which have gone onto teaching yoga themselves. She also introduced SUP yoga (stand up paddle board yoga) to the Hervey Bay community as well as offered and hosted many other various events over the years. She has been fortunate to be part of many workshops, seminars, talks and retreats from amazing and profound teachers each one inspiring and furthering Jess's knowledge. Jess is passionate about all things Yoga, she enjoys teaching public classes, group classes, private yoga classes for the individual or putting together a carefully designed yoga therapy program for her clients. |
"This space is created for everyone to enjoy, to feel at peace and calm, and to develop a deeper understanding about themselves." |

Linny

Hi I'm Linny. I'm 48, a mum of two girls and my background is in fitness, nutrition and personal training. I grew up in the bay and after 20 years abroad have returned to give my girls the amazing lifestyle Australis has to offer.
I have just completed 12 months of competitive body building and found yoga after looking for a way to improve my wellness, reconnect to the feminine energy and become more spiritual.
During my teacher training in Bali I learnt Ashtanga, Hatha and Yin yoga, while also discovering breath-work, meditation and studied the philosophy of yoga. Although I’m not terribly flexible after my strength training, I particularly enjoyed the challenge of improving this and the focus required to do so was a tonic for my burnt out soul!
In particular I enjoyed the physicality of Ashtanga and the workout achieved through the repetition of sun salutations. And I’m excited to bring this type of yoga to Ocean Tree.

Ann

In January 2000, I began the new millennium with a 10-day silent meditation retreat; it was a profound experience. I hadn't known it was possible to quiet the constant chattering of my mind!
Meditation is all pervasive – it touches every aspect of our being: mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually. It offers a positive, noticeable improvement to our well-being.
I've lived with a chronic condition since I was 18. Initially, I readily gave away my power to others, in search of attaining better health. I no longer think someone else can make my life easier – I know this responsibility resides solely with me. For me, practising meditation is a pathway to accept and manage my most challenging moments both internally and externally.
Meditation is a skill like any other resourceful skill - it takes dedication and consistent practice before the benefits are fully experienced. Even a few minutes a day will help, and with weekly group practice we're offered the additional support and encouragement of a like-minded sangha.
When we sit down to meditate, we purposely disconnect from the plugged-in chaos and noise of contemporary life. It's a refuge to nourish our inner being; to strengthen our resilience ... a safe space that genuinely supports our true nature and well-being.
We cultivate positive energy in a compassionate environment at Sunday morning meditation practice; all levels of experience are welcome.
